i have tried both those variants... with the following results

http://stream1.opb.org/opbmusic.pls returned the following message when
SN tried to verify

"This stream returned an unknown content type (application/pls+xml). It
may not play properly on your player"

http://stream1.opb.org/opbmusic returned the following message when SN
tried to verify

"This stream returned an unknown content type (text/plain). It may not
play properly on your player"

did these work for you?
