[SlimDevices: Beta] controller's handling of sb3 firmware update

I just upgraded to 7.0.1-18409 this morning which apparently came with a
firmware upgrade for the sb3.  When I chose my sb3 from my Controller,
all I could get it to do was display the full-screen animated circle
with a message saying my Squeezebox was performing a firmware upgrade. 
After waiting a while I went out to take a look at the SB3 screen and it
had the standard "Hold brightness to upgrade firwmare" message.  I
couldn't find any way on the controller to initiate the upgrade and had
to dig out my SB3's IR remote.  Did I miss something or is this as
designed?

I did notice a minor bug with the controller while it was on that
screen -- pressing vol up or vol down resulted in the vol bar just
traveling all the way to highest or lowest and then un-dimming the
upper 3/4 of the screen so you could see the main menu but still had
the animated circle on top of it.
