Actually I noticed this the other day. 
The easiest way I found to see why there are duplicate entries is to
look at the rows in the 'album' table in the database to see what
columns are different.

In my case, I had an album where most of the tracks were AAC but some
MP3. 
The AAC ones had 'compilation' = NULL. The MP3 tracks had compilation =
0, so two rows were created.
(I must put a bug in for this)
