OK, thanks for that.

It seems slightly odd to do it that way, particularly when the rpm is
completely different and works so well.  The rpm is also a lot less
painful to install.

I guess I'll have to remove the deb and go back to the old start-up
script I used to use if I'm going to continue bug reporting and testing
on ubuntu.
