[SlimDevices: Beta] cannot run 6.5.1

I updated from 6.5 (which was working fine), to the latest version of
6.5.1.  Now when I run slimserver I get: "Unable to connect. Firefox
can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:9000."

I can't debug anything, because slimserver never evens seems to get
started in the first place.  any idea what the problem is?  thanks
