This is already supported, see
http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/faq.html#headless.

Also the Windows and Linux distibutions on sourceforge include scripts
that start Softsqueeze headless. Run it with the UI first to set the
slimserver address, etc.

You might also want to look at squeezeslave, although it is rumored not
to work with slimserver 6.5. I still need to look at that.
