[SlimDevices: Beta] going downhill quick

maybe all this is just happening to me, but if so, i'd like to know
why...

i tried to get the streaming issue fixed by installing the latest
beta...  now, not only is that kaput, but i can't even get local stuff
to play for longer than 7 seconds.

THIS IS WHY i don't use beta software.

am i the only one?  seems incredible to me.  -mdw
