This has been discussed before - it's hardly achievable now as Perl  
doesn't support it on all platforms. And it would only speed up the  
scanner (if at all!).

That's exactly what "Browse music folders" does.

Please search the forums for diskstation, terastation & co. It is  
possible, but not without some manual effort ("hacking" the box).
