[SlimDevices: Beta] Stopped playing WAV's

Excuse me if someone else has asked this too, but I could not find it in
the forums: my Squeezebox has stopped playing WAV's. I updgraded to the
latest SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10833 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252,
but this did not help. 
Copied LAME 3.97 in the server/bin/mswin32... subdir and all seems fine
in the server settings, except they just don't play. The files are
recognised and displayed but just do not start playing. 
Anyone else had this problem (and solved it?)
