oh well, for what it's worth, after many experiments and attempts, I
finally got both SB2's upgraded to fw59. 

I first tried wirelessly with builds from 30/7, 31/7, 1/8, 6/8 & 7/8,
mixing in factory resets and re-programming the Xilinix - all attempts
failed part-way, multiple times.

Finally I gave up - after dismantling the lot & moving it to where   I
could, I swapped to using ethernet connections and successfully
upgraded the sb's - 1 with DHCP, 1 with Fixed IP (just to eliminate
that question).

(SlimServer Version: 6.5b1 - 8842 - Linux - EN - utf8)
