[SlimDevices: Beginners] Automatic Updating & Settings

I saw on the site that there´s an update from the SqueezeCenter (SC)
software. I´m running 7.0 - 17793 - Windows 2003 Server - EN - cp1252
version right now. 

My questions are:

- The settings in the SC are that it checks for software updates
automatically, since 7.0.1 is released I do not get a message on the SC
telling me that there is an update/new version out. Anything to do with
firewall/port settings which prevents that?

- If I download the software 7.0.1 manually, can I install it just over
the existing version? Or do I have to make a backup first (if so, from
what/where?)

I tried to check it but could not find anything about updating SC.
