Setup issues! I have recently purchased a Squeezebox Duet and I should
be lovin' it, but am about to set fire to it!

Windows XP/Netgear 108g ADSL Router/Laptop with PMCIA WiFi
Card/ZoneAlarm Pro Security Suite/BT Broadband

I spent the weekend trying to set up the system with no success.
Following instructions I would get the Netgear network recognised on
the remote , but couldn't get the receiver to connect. It would cycle
through the red/yellow/green blue lights and appear to connect, but
remote said that connection had failed. Tried this a few times and then
did factory resets on the receiver and remote.
Initial setup was tried in the same room as the router, with no
success. Then moved receiver to the amplifier with the router upstairs
but signal was shown as strong on the remote so assumed it was ok!
Tried the whole process a few more times..........
Moved the router into the same room as the receiver and signal was
strong enough to burn out your eyes, still no success. Went into
firewall and enabled the 3428(?) and 9000 UDP/TCP ports as mentioned in
the setup guide. Router reset, factory reset of remote and receiver and
then ............success! Software update, found my muzak and could
see the interweb. Spent the next hour creating a playlist and enjoying
the music. Turned off the remote, the receiver and the computer and
went to bed.

Next night, turn on computer, remote and receiver and find music. Try
to play tracks from internet, but no joy (can see them, but no play!).
Access my pc drive and tracks do play, but keep stopping and restarting
after a few seconds, FF with the remote and things hang!
Gave up and went to bed!

Last night, turned it all on and the receiver had become invisible and
needed to be reconnected to remote. Then went through whole process of
resets and router/PMCIA Card driver updates, but the bl@@dy thing will
not reconnect with the receiver! Network is strong and PC can see it
without issues.
Checked that both Windows and ZoneAlarm firewalls have got the relevant
ports open, only possible issue is the router firewall, but I have had a
connection and it working previously. I don't have any WEP security
enabled.

Please help, or keep an eye on ebay............
