Discovered this incredibly useful MP3tag utility this weekend while
ripping some disks to FLAC for the Duet. I am trying to get a
reasonably functional music folder and database sorted before
attempting to configure the Duet itself. Can I have some comments on
my strategy?

I am currently ripping to FLAC using Winamp. The tags that are picked
up from its CDDB database seem very good, so in most cases they need
very little modification.

First of all, does the Duet handset display the folder hierarchy or
does it use the metadata tags?

I have created a music folder with the hierarchy:
\music\<genre>\<artist(composer if classical)>\<album>\(and then the
track name)

I am doing DIY Genre folder names which I am keeping very simple and
broad (for ease of browsing). All pop and rock is listed under "pop
and rock". Classical is either "Opera", "Choral", or "Orchestral".
The others are "Jazz", "dance and R&B" and "folk and Country".

Will the duet handset recognise these genre folder names and allow me
to select by them?

They are duplicated in the tags as well. I have over-written the CDDB
ones like "modern psychadelic jazz" or "new-wave punk dance fusion" (or
whatever) which are far from useful and far too precise. Out of the 20
pop albums I have currently ripped I don't think any two appeared in
the same genre!

The track name is generally "<track No.> - <artist> - <album> -
<titile>.flac"
except for classical where it is "<track No.> - <composer> - <album> -
<track> - <artist>.flac"

Will the duet be confused by using a different scheme for classical and
other types? Is my usual track name sufficient?

I am finding that it is essential to edit the "artist" field for
classical, particularly Opera, where it seems to want to list the
entire cast!

Album art. I am picking up the album art from Amazon (usually 300x300
pixels) and dropping it into each album folder with the name
"cover.jpg". Is this sufficient?

Is it better to embed the album art into every track? (I may want to
convert some tracks to MP3 for an Ipod at some point).

Does the duet display sreeen re-scale the art to fit the screen size,
or should I resize it to a particular size / resolution?

All help gratefully received. Currently I'm only about 30 albums into
this project (only another 470 to go - even before I start on my LPs -
gulp!) so it is not too late to make major changes. I want to find any
problems early on rather than face making huge batch changes later on.
