If you mean you updated iTunes with artwork by asking it to
automatically download missing artowrk, then that's stored in an iTunes
only format/folder system and SC can't read it.

The only way AFAIK to use iTunes with SC and see artwork on SC is to
embed the artwork into each music file in iTunes.

It's much quicker to do this in a tagging application that in iTunes. 
www.mp3tag.de/en is very powerful, and not too difficult to get started
with.
