[SlimDevices: Beginners] Can duet connect to a NAS without an in between PC

Hi,
Just got the duet last week

I've read somewhere, that one needs to use sqeezecenter software to act
as a proxy for the nas. Is that correct?

Is there any way to have it connect directly?
The nas is a netgear ( infrant ) readynas nv+
It's running firefly and slimserver

I haven't looked into mp3 locker yet, rather not spend additional $ if
not necess and since I have all this hardware at home
