If you have to use the file names for tagging, use an uncommon
character (like the '~') to separate each tag field.  

File name ~ Artist ~ Track# ~ Song Title ~ Year.

Most programs will allow you to select which character to use when
parsing the file name for tag information.  The dash is too common and
is likely in some of the tags already, which will confuse the parsing
routine.
