Thanks guys you have given me food for thought.

I think the best thing to do is to download dBpoweramp and give it a
try on one or two albums. And if the tags don't carrying over, I can
then use the file name or folder structure to help.
File name - Artist - Track# - Song Title
Folder Structure  Artist\Album\Song

Unfortunately I didn't rip everything with WMP11, since the ripping has
been done over the years with differnt programs. But the tags that are
present are recognized by WMP11, Audiostation, and Tag&Rename, so the
meta info is present and in some recognizable standard.
