[SlimDevices: Beginners] Can a Squeezebox Duet function without an internet connection?

The Spanish approach to telecommunications has meant that for the last
six months or so I have had no internet access at home. I intend to buy
a Squeezebox Duet the instant they get released here but after trying to
install SqueezeCentre I have doubts.

It seems that I can't set it up at all without a SqueezeNetwork
account. 

I can get a particularly slow internet connection up temporarily using
GPRS over Bluetooth, so a one-off registration doesn't worry me, but I
don't want to have to connect to the internet when I just want to use
SqueezeCentre to browse my local music collection.

So my question is this: can I use a Squeezebox Duet with SqeezeCentre
without an internet connection?
