If you're sending the analog (RCA) output of the SB to the Pioneer, the
receiver may be re-digitizing the signal.  That would mean a path
like:

digital (files) --> analog (SB DAC) --> digital (Pioneer re-digitizes)
--> analog (Pioneer DAC).

If you send a digital (optical or coaxial) signal to the pioneer, your
path would be:

digital (files) --> analog (Pioneer DAC)

The digital connection should be a lot cleaner.
