One difference would be sound quality. While I am not sure of the specs
of the soundcard in the MacMini, I'd be pretty confident that the
Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) on the SqueezeBox would be superior.
Also, with the "classic" Squeezebox you have a display of what's
playing without needing a monitor/TV on as you would on the mini. The
new SqueezeBox Controller (SBC -- the new remote) of course also does
this for you. The SBC remote should be able to control SoftSqueeze on
your mini, although it may be a while until the SBC is available
separately. If you are happy with your current sound quality, SBC +
MacMini may be enough for you, but the SBC actually costs more than the
new SqueezeBox Receiver (SBR) and with the Duet bundle, you get both for
not much more than the standalond SBC price.
