Hi

Its a long story how I ended up at Slimdevices. I recently bought a
Chumby.com and wanted to listen to Radio1. I found out that Chumby can
listen to SlimStreams, and that alienBBC and SlimServer could do that.
I have not got AlienBBC to work yet :-( seems to not want to start
playing the steam (I have check and double checked everything).
However have got my iTunes streaming to my Chumby.com (cool!!)

I have a MacMini that I use as a mediaserver hooked up to a LCD TV /
hifi System.

I had no idea SlimServer concept existed, I had seen the Squeezebox
right back when it was first released but never came back and took a
look. All i can say is WOW - what have I missed! :-) The slimserver is
really cool - no more dragging my MP3 collection to work - I can steam
direct to my office. anyway. thats a side point :-)

My question? I see that they are about to release this cool remote
control to select music etc. This is something I find missing from my
MacMini at the moment. Now my MacMini is plugged direct into my hifi.
Why would I need a Squezebox? Can the remote control just control the
SlimServer and in term the output goes via my Mac > Hifi? I see there
software version of the Squeezebox called SoftSqueeze which is also
free :-) ... will the remote control work against that? The only
reason I see to get a SqueezeBox itself is for another room in the
house.
