[SlimDevices: Beginners] Muddy in the middle

I've been all through the Help pages and the wiki and can't find how to
solve this problem.  When I play songs (iTunes Library) through the SB,
the mid-range is muddy.

My set-up: Win XP, iTunes, WAN, SB connected to an awesome solid state
Pioneer receiver, BA speakers. Files in iTunes are ripped from my own
CD collection.

My troubleshooting so far:
Play iTunes file through BOSE Sound Dock, or headphones and it sounds
fine. Receiver/speaker set-up sounds fine when I play a CD or FM radio,
so I think we have isolated the problem to the SB.

I've tried adjusting the bass/treb controls on my receiver and it does
not clean up the problem.

Does SB have an equalizer feature or plug-in?
