What format are the tracks in?

Is there any DRM on any of the tracks? If so, these won't show up.

Were thy ripped with Windows Media Player? There were several version
of WMP that had DRM enabled by default even when ripping your own
media. I think this has changes in WMP 11.

Playlist scanning can slow down the scan process, especially if you
have a playlist for each album (some rippers inlude one be default), or
they reference tracks that no longer exist. Especially true whenn a
playlst has been created for each album then the files are moved to a
new location, meaning the playlist is out of date.

EDIT: in my opinion scanning all of c:\ is a bad idea, the scanner has
to look through all the tens of thousands (and perhaps hundreds of
thousands) of files in your Windows, Program Files, and Application
Data folders. This includes your Internet Explorer cache, That itse;f
can run into hundreds of thousands of files. That really is going to
take hours.
