Some stations require their stream to be transcoded by your
SqueezeCentre, certainly those that stream using RealAudio do. What
stations are you thinking about?

1) Is there a fee for use of SqueezeNetwork services in this capacity?

Not AFAIK

2) Is it true that I can add any independent stream I want to my
SqueezeNetwork favorites?

Only those that don't need transcoding

3) The receiver and SqueezeBox appear to operate on 802.11g networks.
Do you have a suggested list..

Not any more, the wiki hasn't been kept up-to-date

4) It seems like the main difference between the SqueezeBox and the
Duet system is the remote control. 

And the loss of the display on the SB3 of course. A reason to buy an
SB3 is that the SBR ain't shipping yet :(
