The latter, you can mix and match receivers, controllers, and SB3s in
any combination as long as they all use the same instance of SC7

Beware that many Bose devices use a non-standard IR frequency not
supported by IR Blaster (not an issue for you if you use Receivers as
they do not have a headphone port to support IR Blaster). Audioengine
A2 and A5 are both good choices for quality powered speakers. I like
the A5.

All will use your existing (standard) wireless network if you want them
to (the best choice). It helps to ensure that whatever PC runs SC7 has a
static IP address.
