[SlimDevices: Beginners] Anyone without problems?..

Joining in with the group of people who never had any problems with the
system. I have only one SB3 (like to change that soon...) and I have it
since about two years. The system installed flawlessly. I use an old PC
as server. The server has a RAID1 configuration on the hard drives. In
the beginning my server PC was running Windows 2000 workstation. I
don’t remember what version of SlimServer I started of. I also nicely
followed up with the new releases of SlimServer. I never experienced
any issues, not even after a software upgrade.
Recently I installed Windows 2003 Server on my server PC. I’m running
SC 7.01 again flawlessly. I never had any issues with AV either. My
Win2k system had Avast AV, my Windows 2003 Server is running FPROT AV.
I never touched the Windows firewall; it runs with the default setting.


My server PC is connected by Ethernet to my Netgear switch. I have a
D-Link Access Point connected to my switch and my ADSL router is also
connected to the switch. The rest of my system is using wireless (SB3
and my laptops). 
My server PC, the Access Point, the switch and the ADSL router have
static IP addresses. I consider this as being the backbone in my
network and I like to have them run on static IP addresses. All the
rest uses DHCP addresses distributed by my ADSL router. 
Wireless security is WPA2 / AES. 

>From what I can tell in your system, I would check the following to
things:

•	Check your network setup. Many issues are network related not SC or
SB (or Transporter). Check all physical connections and all
configurations (IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways, DNS, etc).
•	Uninstall SC completely and make sure all components are removed.
Then reinstall SC. Maybe SC didn’t install properly for any strange
reason. mySQL is complaining that it can’t run as a service. This
sounds strange to me and that is not caused by a firewall or AV.
