What's ugly? I don't see any serious problem here. We might need to change  
the wording, as these warnings seem scarier than they are:

- MySQL: running as a process instead of a service - who cares? It's  
running after all.

- communication with some remote server failed (eg. SN sync, or remote  
stream) - not critical

 From the logs there's no indication that system doesn't work. I guess it's  
the firewall blocking access.
