I have just bought and begun attempting to use the Squeezebox which I
have connected by Ethernet cable to a Linksys Wireless router which is
connected to the Web through the network card on the desktop. There is
also a wirelessly connected laptop on this LAN.I have XP Pro SP2 on
both the laptop and desktop.

My music is stored by iTUNES and is situated in the path G:/iTunes
Library on the desktop.
I have d/l the latest version of the Slimserver software and have got
the SqueezeCenter showing using "http://127.0.0.1:9000/".

Question 1:-

In order for the Squeezebox to access and play this music on my Hi-Fi
speakers , must I have this SqueezeCenter running ?

I suspect that the fact that I have to ask such a question probably
indicates my basic lack of understanding just what it is that is
happeneing here. This lack of understanding may be further emphasised by
my next question.

When I navigate to , say , a particular track on a particular Album , I
notice it says at the bottom of the SC web page "...waiting for
127.0.0.1....." - then , sometimes almost immediately but at other
times after a quite considerable interval , the selected track appears
on the SB screen .

Question 2 :-

Why is it necessary for SB software to have to look in
"127.0.0.1:9000/" when all my music is already there on my hard drive ,
i.e. in my case in the path G:/Itunes Library.

Question 3:-

Does this mean that my music data has now been transferred to some Web
address and can only be found there by SB ?
Is this data now "somewhere on the Web" ?

I have some other questions related to difficulties navigating through
my music library but , since these are separate from the subject of
this thread I will pose them in another thread.
